Laser Hair Removal Q & A
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a long-term alternative to waxing, shaving, threading, and other hair removal methods. Laser hair removal prevents hair from regrowing on once the hair has been treated during all of its growth cycles.
Who can get Laser Hair Removal?
People with any skin tone and hair type can get laser hair removal today. Our medspa uses the Sciton Broadband Light system, which is one of the most sophisticated and effective laser hair removal systems available on the market today. Anyone who has unwanted hair on their lip, face, underarms, chest, bikini line, legs, or other areas may benefit from laser hair removal with the Sciton Broadband Light system.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser light delivers concentrated energy directly into the melanin within each hair follicle. Once the melanin absorbs this heat, the stem cells in the hair bulb are damaged, causing the melanin to dissipate and move into the bloodstream. The melanin particles will be harmlessly removed from the body after that. Once this occurs, that hair follicle will be unable to create new melanin and thus new hair will not grow there again. Laser hair removal must be done in stages, as hair must be targeted in all of its growth phases.
How many Laser Hair Removal sessions are needed?
It depends on the individual and on the size of the area being treated. The majority of patients require at least several laser hair removal sessions. This ensures that all the growth cycles are targeted. Laser hair removal sessions are usually scheduled at least a month apart to make sure that new haifr has enough time to appear. Once the patient has undergone a series of laser hair removal sessions, they are usually able to leave the razors behind them for good.
