Cellulite Begone!
Up to 98% of women have a benign skin condition called cellulite, which creates a dimpled, wavy, or tufted look on their buttocks, thighs, and other areas of their body. Although cellulite isn’t harmful, some women feel it mars the appearance of their skin.
You may have tried to rid yourself of cellulite by dieting and found that the bumpy, wavy ridges of fat remain the same, no matter what weight you attain. You may have also tried creams or body-brushing techniques to smooth out the skin with minimal to no results.
Cellulite can affect your body whether you’re overweight or thin. It’s not a condition that’s caused by fat. It’s actually a hormonally driven skin issue in which thick, fibrous bands of connective tissue adhere between the underlayer of your skin and your muscles, and they pull your skin and fat into tufts or dimples.
You can disconnect those bands and smooth out the tufts with Avéli® cellulite removal treatments at Aesthetics, by Dr. Lee. Dr. Luis Lee and our team offer Avéli at our offices in Roseville, California.
How does Avéli work? Here’s the lowdown.
Avéli cuts the tethers
Those fibrous bands of tissue that tether your skin and muscle together to create cellulite dimples are called septa. You can find septa in various areas of your body, and they don’t all create cellulite. They simply act as connective tethers.
But when the septa in your skin shrink or stiffen over time or due to genetics, cellulite can be the result. Dr. Lee or your aesthetician then individually identifies the septa that cause your unwanted cellulite and targets them with the FDA-cleared Avéli device.
Unlike other cellulite treatments, Avéli breaks up individual septum. It’s a technologically advanced device that uses a probe to find the septa. The device launches a tiny blade that severs the septa to release the skin. A hook then verifies that the septa have been treated.
Avéli is fast
In about one hour, we should be able to treat all of the septa that cause your unwanted cellulite. We estimate your treatment time when you come for your cellulite-removal consultation.
You shouldn’t need more than one Avéli treatment. Your cellulite is gone directly after your procedure. But you may not notice the results for about one month, due to post-procedure swelling and bruising.
Take care after Avéli
Even though Avéli is fast and we make the procedure comfortable for you with localized anesthetics, it’s still an invasive treatment because we must place the device under your skin through small insertion points.
You will experience swelling and bruising, which you may control with ice compresses. You can minimize pain and swelling with over-the-counter painkillers.
You should avoid strenuous activity — including workouts — for the first few days or even weeks after your procedure. Dr. Lee gives you aftercare instructions, which you should follow precisely, including when a return to the gym is safe.
We also recommend that you wear compression clothing to minimize swelling and help increase circulation. Even wearing tights or leggings can help you stay comfortable and bruise-free.
Avéli lasts
According to a clinical study, Avéli results for moderate-to-severe cellulite last for at least one year. You may find that you remain cellulite-free for longer than that. Unlike other cellulite remedies, you don’t need a series of treatments.
