Let Us Revive Your Skin Back From Sun Damage
Our beautiful sun warms the Earth, grows our food, and lights up our hearts. But it also — in essence — cooks our skin, robbing it of proteins and moisture, and even altering its DNA.
A little sunshine in the morning wakes you up and sets your circadian clock. Too much sunshine damages and burns your skin, raising your risk for skin cancer and leaving you with age-related damage, such as:
- Brown spots
- Dry, thin skin
- Sagging skin
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Broken veins
At Aesthetics, by Dr. Lee, our highly trained team helps your skin recover from summer’s combination of overindulgence and neglect. If you have spent too much time in the sun without sunscreen, we recommend a variety of high-tech solutions at our offices in Roseville, California.
Fight Light with Light
The sunlight’s damaging ultraviolet (UVA) rays can leave your skin with accelerated signs of aging, such as wrinkles and brown spots. The wavelength of UV light alters your skin cells’ DNA, making them more susceptible to skin cancer. It also depletes your skin’s strength, elasticity, and thickness.
Another wavelength of light called broadband light (BBL) undoes UVA damage. A BBL treatment delivers intense pulsed light (IPL) to your skin at various layers to treat and reverse sun damage.
For instance, we use a setting of 530-560 nm to heat the outer layer of your skin to a depth of about 0.2 mm. The heat creates microscopic wounds that trigger a healing process. This wavelength helps your skin break apart and clear hyperpigmentation, such as sun spots, liver spots, and freckles.
Another frequency — 590 nm — reaches far deeper. The heat penetrates your skin layers to a depth of 2 mm, where your collagen matrix resides. The microwounding process triggers your skin to start rebuilding its scaffolding with new collagen and elastin, resolving wrinkles as well as thin and sagging skin.
Shore up the sags
Nothing says aging skin quite like sagging skin. You’re most likely to notice sagging first in areas where your skin is naturally thin and has poor contact with the underlying muscles, such as in your neck or under your eyes.
We use the Sciton® SkinTyte II laser to tighten loose, sagging skin on your face and body. Whether your sagging skin is the result of aging, sun damage, weight loss, or a combination, the Sciton firms up your:
- Face
- Neck
- Abdomen
- Knees
- Thighs
- Other areas
The Sciton is a type of BBL device. We recommend a four-pass treatment to resolve sun-damage issues. The first pass corrects superficial skin pigmentation. Further passes at deeper wave lengths address both excess skin flushing and skin laxity.
Walk the red carpet with HydraFacial®
If you want the inner and outer glow you see on celebrities as they walk the red carpet during awards season, it’s time for a HydraFacial. This multi-step resurfacing and skin-nourishing technique drenches your skin in moisture and nutrients for a head-turning finish.
A HydraFacial improves the quality of your skin with a single device that performs multiple functions. First, it exfoliates and deeply cleanses your skin to remove impurities and dull, dead skin cells.
Next, the suction device extracts dirt, debris, and oil clogs from deep inside your pores. It essentially vacuums blackheads and other impurities away.
Finally, the HydraFacial bathes your skin in nourishing serums and moisturizers. We customize the ingredients in your serum and moisturizer based on your skin type, issues, and goals. A HydraFacial only takes about 30 minutes and leaves your skin luminous and radiant.
Customize your rejuvenation
We design a customized rejuvenation facial just for you. We select your exfoliation, mask, and serum based on your needs.
We can also mix and match a number of other aesthetic and rejuvenating treatments to undo what the sun did, including:
